Papers

Here are my two published papers, which you can also find in Issue 3 of The Lectern journal. The first is a standalone paper about keyboard layouts, and the second is on an experiment I personally conducted, complimented with a poster.

Dvorak’s Setbacks: Barriers to Learning the Dvorak Keyboard

This research paper served as my thesis for the Dietrich Honors Institute at Thiel College. The goal was to discover why the QWERTY keyboard layout has become the standard, both through reviewing keyboard history and conducting my own experiment where I tested subjects abilities to type on and potentially learn the DVORAK keyboard layout.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes: The Effect of Non-Verbal Cues on Collaboration

Both a paper and a poster were created after I had run an experiment where I wanted to test if face-to-face communication was more effective than remote. The paper goes into much further detail on how the experiment was conducted, but the poster is a quick and easy way to both present the information and have others understand it.
